Hey Y'all! Hope you all had a great weekend. I feel like John and I did ALL the things this weekend! (Anyone else have a crazy productive weekend?!) After cleaning, organizing, meal prepping, and shooting two new projects for the blog - we somehow even had time to swing into our new favorite store, Philanthropy, over in Market Street - The Woodlands. If you live in The Woods, you gotta go check it out!

There are many things I love about being from Texas, but one of my favorites is the food. And while most people think of BBQ, sweet tea, and tex-mex when they think of Texas, (which you absolutely should because all of these are AMAZING,) what people usually forget is the fresh seafood. That's right. A plus to being in Houston is that we sit on Gulf (the third coast) and all of it's fresh seafood is ripe for the choosing. So with that we wanted to share another recipe with you that John and I love to make and what we like to call Texas Shrimp Jambalaya!

This post is one I have had in the back of my mind for A LONG TIME. So, you have no idea how excited I am to finally be able to blog about it! First things first, the true talent here is Jessica from Makeup by Jessica Kirkland. She is a Houston-based Makeup Artist and man is she talented! Fun fact: I actually went to high school with her and hadn't seen her in 10 years until she came to do my makeup! ( wow, I suddenly feel SUPER old.) Anyways, it was a blast to have my makeup done by her and she shared some super awesome makeup & beauty tips that I wanted to pass along to you guys!

I am a person who ALWAYS has a to-do list a mile long. I tend to run until I am so burnt out that I either get a cold or am so mentally and physically exhausted that I just stop everything! (Hence - the lack of posts in the last two weeks.) I completely over-extended myself and it caught up with me big time last week. It has taken me so long to realize this and it won't be easy for me to implement, but I am working on giving myself permission to slow down!
There is no reason to feel guilty for taking care of yourself. We all need that time to decompress and relax! I am easing my way into this new lifestyle with more bubble baths and face masks that I picked up from Lush in Market Street - The Woodlands. (Seriously one of my favorite stores!) I tried some new things, that I am excited to share with y'all today!

John and I don't usually go out for Valentine's day. This habit started back when we were dating. We both worked at a restaurant and obviously Valentine's Day was a huge money maker for us, so there was no question that we would always work on Valentine's and celebrate later. Even though we no longer work at the restaurant, we just never find ourselves fighting the crowds to get a table. I would much rather opt in for a Valentine's dinner date at home that can be made together, like these sweet & savory crepes!

Have you ever made soup from scratch before? Well until this recipe I was in the "no" category, but January is national soup month so I wanted to give it a try. Picking which soup to do was the hardest part and really I picked this soup recipe, because I wanted to justify to Lindsey as to why I needed these cool spoons lol. They bring a certain level of authenticity to the dish that a normal spoon just couldn't provide don't you think? Either way I love this soup and I always end up trading a piece of sushi for Lindz's soup when we go to our favorite hibachi restaurant, so I was pretty excited to give this simple mushroom onion soup a try.
